The recruitment was enabled through FNU's National Apprenticeship Scheme which is a three-way agreement between the apprentice, the employer, and the NTPC. The apprentices will be contracted for four years and are supervised and instructed by competent industry specialists.

The scheme allows apprentices to be paid as an employee while learning and studying for academic certificates and diplomas part-time at university.
